The Truth About Forever, Sarah Dessen, Puffin Books, 374 pages
I bought this book at Barnes and Noble because it was recommended to me by a lot of my friends.
Macy Queens life isnt quite the same after the death of her father. They not only had a strong father-daughter bond, but they were also friends and running partners. After he died, Macy gave up running all together and looked for new ways to make her life perfect by dating a perfect, straight-A-student boyfriend and spending her extra time studying and not getting involved with wild parties or anything like that. This dull lifestyle continues until she meets the Wish Catering Crew at one of her moms open houses. She makes new friends and most importantly meets Wes, who will soon send her life in a totally different, eye-opening direction. The two of them become great friends and Macy discovers that being perfect isnt everything and that imperfection has its own beauty.
The audience is teen girls because they are able to relate and would be more interested in a story like this.
Sarah Dessen writes in a descriptive style, but her descriptions dont bore you to death. She uses appropriate vocabulary and writes in a way the makes teenagers want to keep reading more. I think a lot of times she finds ways to explain exactly how her characters are feeling and that readers can really relate. It was one of those moments that you wish you could just disappear, every particle in you shrinking. But that, I knew, was impossible. There was always an after.
I'd long ago learned not to be picky about farewells. They weren't guaranteed or promised. You were lucky, more than blessed, of you got a good-bye at all.
This quote really struck me because its true especially for someone like Macy. There are times when you dont always get to say good-bye, so you should appreciate the times you have the chance to and not be angry or annoyed about the times where you didnt get to say it the way you wanted to.
When I was with him, I didn't have to be perfect, or even try for perfect. He already knew my secrets, the things I'd kept hidden from everyone else, so I could just be myself. Which shouldn't have been such a big deal. But it was.
I liked this because Macy was finally able to be open with someone and not worry about their reactions or how badly things can turn out from being too honest. It was a big deal because she was always worrying and over-thinking how things might turn out if she said the wrong thing at the wrong time.
But if something was really important, fate made sure it somehow came back to you and gave you another chance.
This is something everyone would like to believe. I like the idea of this and when I read this it made a lot of sense to me.
I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I definitely felt I could relate to Macy in one way or another. Besides the death of her father, the struggles she faced were similar to ones that everyday teenage girls face, which is why it made the book so easy to get into. Overall I thought her character was really brave, but there were some parts of the book where I just wanted her to be rude back to nasty girls she worked with at the library. It wasnt my favorite book of all time and the story didnt really stick with me, but I would recommend it to anyone my age.

I have read this book before and i agree that it was an enjoyable book to read. I enjoyed reading this book because being a teenage girl, you can relate to the things that went on. It was also a book that was easy to get into which is good beucase there are many books out there that are hard to get into when you first start reading it. I like the quote "When i was with him..." because there is no such thing as perfect, and i think Macy was realizing she didn't have to be perfect for everyone. She found that person that she could finally just be herself around.

I actually have also read this book before and enjoyed it alot. I like how Sarah Dessen shows that perfection is not even close to being a good thing. In my eyes i also believe that imperfection is so much better. Im not saying that people shouldn't try to do their best or anything but when they try to be perfect it almost comes off as annoying. I like the last quote that Lizzie chose because i also believe that if something is meant to happen it will.

I haven't read this book yet. I really like Sarah Dessen as an author. From your summary the main character seems relatable to most teenage girls. I also agree that imperfection is better than perfection, because I don't think that anything is "perfect". This seems like a really good book that i would enjoy reading.
