Twilight, Stephanie Meyer, Megan Tingley Books, 498 pages
After hearing my classmates talk about how great the Twilight movie was I had an urge to read the book. One day I asked my sister who was reading the series to let me read the book, so she loaned me the book.
A young teen named Bella moves from her home in Arizona to a town in Seattle to live with her father. New life in a new town and a new school, she was enjoying it, and she had her eyes on one boy in particular. Edward Cullen. It started as two people in a class, then grew into friendship the after a few life saving actions and Bella discovered that Edward was a vampire, they became a couple. Bella falls in love with Edward, other vampires threaten Bella’s life and Edward comes in enough time to rescue her.
This book is for people of all ages who enjoy action, and romance, there is action every page you turn and the love of two people grows as the book comes to a close.
The author uses a very formal style, however her word choice is not too complex. On page 295 the style is formal and you can see a very vibrant picture of the surroundings.
“ I don’t want to be a monster” (page 247). Edward was showing his sensitive side to Bella, he wants to be gentle.
“Three things were certain, first Edward was a vampire, second part of him and I didn’t know how dominant that part was thirsted for my blood and third I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him” (page 305). This quote shows that anyone can fall in love with anything no matter how they act.
“So the lion fell in love with the lamb” Edward realized that he too loved Bella even though she was a human and he had a thirst of her blood.
I believe the primary theme of this book is protecting the ones you care about. Bella wanted to protect her family and Edward wanted to protect Bella from the other vampires.
This book was very interesting, if I could grade it, I would giv e it a B+. I enjoy all of the details, but it too a long time for the plot to settle. I could really picture all of the scenes with her details, but the word choice seemed a little faint and easy at times.

Twilight
Stephanie Meyers
Little, Brown and Company
498 Pages
I decided to read this book because I had seen the movie. I found the movie very interesting, and I wanted to see if it was the same as the book.
Bella Swan, a pale young adult, starts out leaving her mother in Arizona to go live with her father in Forks, Washington. From there, she meets a pale, gorgeous man at her new school named Edward Cullen. They have classes together. She finds something weird about him at first, but she later finds out that he is a vampire. At first they don’t really get along, but they end up deeply in love. Life seems perfect until James, a bad vampire, goes out to kill Bella. Edward Saves Bella by sucking the venom from her arm.
This book is for people of all ages who enjoy action, and romance. There is action throughout the entire book.
Stephanie Meyer writes in a descriptive style. “He then proceeded to sling me onto his back, with very little effort on my part, besides, when in place, clamping my legs and arms so tightly around him that it would choke a normal person,” (279). I can picture this happening. “They moved too fast; it didn’t look real, it looked like a video game,” (187).
I believe the primary theme of this book is to stay with the people you care about the most. Bella wanted to be with her family; she cared about them. Edward saved Bella from the bad vampire.
I would give this book a B. I thought it was a really good book, but it was too long for me. I found that the way Stephanie Meyer’s wrote made it easy to picture what was going on.

ReplyDeleteI also read this as my outside reading book. I found that the information that he provided was very close to what I wrote. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I would definitely recommend it. I liked the examples that Maurice used from the book.
I have read this book as well and I ould too agree with Pj. Twilight is an amazing book along with the series. For anyone who hasn't read this book or the series, I would highly recommend it. It shows when you truly love someone or something, it doesn't matter how different you might be, you can love anything. The Twilight series is an amzing series and the movies are almost just as good.
ReplyDeleteThis book was one of my favorites. Although the book itself seemed very long, but as soon as I read the first chapter, I just couldn't put the book down. Twilight is a book that keeps you at the edge of your seat. I would really recommend this book for everyone because the vocabulary is very easy to understand. Maurice, the summary was great!
ReplyDeleteI have never read the book but I heard that it is amazing. I LOVE the movies and would watch them over and over again. The book seems very long so I might just stick with watching the movie instead. Your information is very detailed and I might read the book if I get inspired. I heard that the movie is different from the book but I hear that the book is better which is often the case. The summary was very good!
ReplyDeleteTwilight is one of my favorite books. I've read the whole series and would have to say that the best is a toss up between Twilight and Eclipse. I love that the vampires are seen in a different light. Usually people think of vampires as monsters who drink blood, and in fact that is how Edward thinks of himself. It is nice to see someone falling for a vampire in a modern time. Although, I have to disagree that James is a "bad" vampire. He's just a normal vampire who likes human blood better than animal blood.
ReplyDeleteP.J, I have seen the movie I'm not going to lie but I really like it. I have no strave to read the book even thought you did a great job doing the summery. I know that there is a series of these books and movies and I plan on watching the movies.
ReplyDeleteGreat job PJ and Ashley! I read book a few years ago and I loved it. It is easily one of my favorite books, and in my opinion is the best of the series. I agree with PJ that although Stephanie Myers style is somewhat formal, it is not complex, but easy to understand. I would easily recommend this book to anyone. The Twilight series really is a great series and is one that I believe most people would enjoy.
