Go Ask Alice by anonymous

Summary:
"Go Ask Alice" is the diary of a teenage girl who becomes involved in the seductive world of Sex and Drugs. As she deals with her grandfather's heart attack, Alice only gets deeper and deeper into her addictions. Due to her "promescuity," Alice is raped and one night while at a party she has a bad trip and ends up in the hospital. She is badly battered, with her fingernails ripped out and her fingers in splints. Later on in the book we learn that after a desperate attempt to go sober she relapses and eventually dies of an overdose.

Review:
I really liked this book. Though it was intense and a little disturbing, it is real life. People struggle with addiction and although some try to break free, for others, like Alice, it is too late. I would recommend this book to any one that knows someone or that has been someone who struggled with addicton. It was a real eye opener to me and hopefully to others.

Quote:
"No doper can take the pill because they don't know what the hell day it is. so maybe i am pregnant. so what." I chose this quote because it showed how bad Alice's addiction got. It was to the point where she wanted birth control but couldn't take it because she could not remember what day it was.

  1. This book honestly made me cry. I'm quite hard shell to hatch, but the horrible things that she had to go through and the very comparison of certain things she went through, was heart wrenching. I couldn't possibly imagine any of my friends having to go through that let aloe my future children. Drugs are awful materials that ruin this world.

  2. I read this book during the summer. I believe that this story holds a very powerful message. Although, teens may think that drugs are great, sadly they aren't. They have very serious side affects and they can cause death. When I read this book i cried, because I know what it's like to have to go through some of the struggles Alice went through. It isn't easy, but you have to try and make it through life, and you can't rely on drugs to make everything better.
