Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

Summary:
Annabel Greene, known as a person with the perfect life, goes through many struggles. First her sister almost dies of anorexia and then the next minute, her best friend accuses Annabel of sleeping with her boyfriend. The truth is that he raped her. She is the talk of the school and people are shunning her for a false accusation. Later on, Annabel meets with a guy named Owen. They become a couple. She goes to the club to see him perform with his band. She gets the news that one of her best friends almost got raped by the same guy as she does. So, she leaves the club without telling Owen. He got pretty upset that she just left, so they don't talk for a few months. Then, Annabel goes to Owen and tries to tell him why she left. He tells her she should testify. After she does, she becomes more of a happier person.

Review:
I found this book to be very interesting. At the same time it was sad. I couldn't imagine what she had gone through. Being raped is probably the worst thing that could happen to a female. Annabel had many struggles, but she got through it. If I was her, I would be a wreck emotionally. It made me think a lot. It kind of bugs me when people think that someone has a perfect life from what they see, but in reality no one really knows what that person is going through. I would recommend this to anyone, but I think it is more for females. They may be able to relate to her more than a guy would.

Quote:
"What mattered most, though, was that I'd gotten through it, finally-beginning, middle and end." I chose this quote because it is her finally getting through all the struggles and coming out with what had happened. It is her starting over.

  1. This sounds like a really good book. I think i would deffinitely read this book from the description that this person gave. It sounds like more of a girl book, which is one of the reasons i like it. Even though the main character goes through many struggles the quote shows that she come out okay. - Sarah Poulioy
