Shadow Watch (Carl Boulais)

Shadow watch, Tom Clancy and Martin Greenberg, Berkley Paperback 368 pages
I took this book from a house I was staying at in Maine.

Summary - This is the third book to the series power plays by tom Clancy. during this book it is the year 2001, and the American business man roger gordian has expanded his reach into space. his company has become the main builder in the space station Orion, which is a multimillion dollar space station. however, when the space shuttle is launched into space that is carrying parts, it gets messed up by mysterious attacks by terrorists. Once Gordian has heard of these attack he then realizes his worst fears, that his plans have been target by terrorists. Harlan DeVan's goal is to ultimately destroy Gordians space project, and everyone who helped develop it. In the end, after a very long time of defending his work, the terrorists have been stopped and the Orion project has been saved, thanks to the military's help. the space shuttle launches into space and the multimillion dollar space station is a success. after the launch the research in space has started, and Goridans new reach into space has begun.
Audience - the audience of this book is teenagers and older adults. this book is action packed, with lots of turning points and maintains the story elements of a story very well.
Writing style - Tom clancy"s writing style for this book is narrative. he uses words that have portray the story like he is telling it, such as he, they, and others. he does a very good job at doing this throughout the story.
"he triggered the rifle and felt it rattle against his body, spraying the stairs with rounds. The invaders almost collided with eath other as they halted in their tracks and shot back with their own weapons," (97)
Passages - "she would remember how everything went terribly wrong, turning excitement and anticipation into horror and changing the course of her life," (1)i chose this passage because it shows how in life, one moment, big or small can take happiness and joy and turn it into sadness or a terrific outcome.
"sending human beings into space is a complicated process," (7)i picked this one because it shows that even the people working at nasa have a very hard time trying to do sucha a very hard task, like most poeple do in real life. life isnt easy.
""wonder who'd but those old throwaways?" (19)i picked this because i ask myslef this question when i drive by tag sales. all they sell at tag sales is junk you would throw away.

  3. Yo Carl, this sounds like a book you would read. It seems to be full of action and it sounds interesting to me. I think your first passage was the strongest because it can also relate to the real worl and situations that happen. The plot seems to be a little confusing, but since it is a book with a lot of action i can see why. I would consider reading this book in the future because i like books that are unpredictable.
