Title: Twilight
Author: Stephanie Meyers
Publisher: Little, Brown and Company
Pages: 498
Where?: SHHS Library
Summary: Twilight is a novel about undeniable love. Bella, a girl from Arizona decides to move to the small town Forks in Washington with her father for a while. Bella adjusts quickly and becomes friends with a lot of people, especially Edward Cullen. As there friendship grows stronger Bella is revealed to what the Cullen’s really are, vampires. This doesn’t scare Bella a bit and her and Edward only get more serious. Edward shares her with his family at a game of baseball, where Bella’s life is changed for good. A tracker sets his eyes on Bella and the games begin. But in the end Edward goes to all extremes to make sure that his love Bella is protected.
Audience: Teenagers to twenties would be the audience because its written from the viewpoint of that age group and they would be able to relate easily.
Style: The author is very descriptive when describing scenery and the distinctiveness of the characters. It was a mixture of short and long sentences.
Passages: ONE: “I’m not afraid of them. I’m afraid they won’t like me. Won’t they be, well, surprised that you would bring someone… like me… home to meet them? Do they know that I know about them?” pg 316 chapter 15
Reason: This shows the courage Bella had to be involved with such a complicated situation and that she wasn’t afraid of vampires she was afraid that they wouldn’t like her and break her and Edward apart in someway.
TWO: “He grinned his crooked smile at me, stopping my breath and my heart. I couldn’t imagine how an angel could be any more glorious. There was nothing about him that could be improved upon.” pg 241 chapter 12
Reason: It was undeniable how much Bella loved everything about Edward, he was her angel.
THREE: “It’s been almost a century that Edward’s been alone. Now he’s found you. You can’t see the changes that we see, we who have been with him for so long. Do you think any of us want to look into his eyes for the next hundred years if he loses you?” pg 410 chapter 20
Reason: Everyone in the family has seen the impact Bella has had on Edwards life and are going to all extremes to make sure that they are together. He’s never been as happy and in love as he is with Bella.
Interaction: This book keeps you interested the entire time. The way the author shows how far a young teenager would go for the one she loved made me realize that you can be in love at such a young age. Throughout all the differences and obstacles Bella had to go through to be with Edward didn’t have the smallest effect over her. She was going to all ends to be with the one she loved even if that meant changing her life for forever. The moral just showed me that you just have to push for what you want, don’t give up the ones that mean the most to you.

I found this book in my sister’s room after I remembered her telling me how good it was.
This book was about a teenage girl named Belle. She has just moved from her mom’s house in Phoenix to Forks. Bella dreaded the move until she met Edward. Edward acted very strangely towards her and she doesn’t know why. They are instantly attracted to each other and the reason is that he is a vampire. Edward is drawn towards the smell of her blood. He loves Bella so much he would do nothing to harm her. That is when other vampires smell how irresistible she is and track her. Edward and his family save her from near death of a vampire bite. The book ends with her in the hospital and there is a sequel.
The audience for this book I would say would be romantics and teenage girls only because they could relate best.
The author’s writing style is very descriptive and the book is fast paced. Also in this novel the author’s style is also a love story.
Pg.230 “I’d given more information then necessary in my unwilling honesty, and I worried it would provoke the strange anger that flared whenever I slipped and revealed too clearly how obsessed I was.”
“There was no escape, no reprieve. I could see only one possible end looming darkly in my future” pg. 425
“Flickers of the electricity I’d felt this afternoon began to charge the atmosphere as he gazed unrelentingly into my eyes” pg 225
“I could feel his cool breath on my neck, feel his nose sliding along my jaw, inhaling.” Pg 306
The first passage shows how Bella is scared for her life at the end of the book. If leaves you feeling very anxious. This passage is also eerie because it’s almost as if she’s excepting her fate. The second passage stuck with me because is shows the romance in the novella between Bella and Edward and how they have such a strong connection. The third passage also shows this and that’s why I like it. Also you feel excitement because you never know if Edward is going to snap and bite Bella.
How I interacted with the book was that I could relate to it. Not so much in the vampire sense but with the connection between the two characters. Some parts that really spoke to me was when Bella was just adapting to her new town and I thought I was interesting. Also another part that spoke to me was when Bella was in the hospital because I felt sympathy for her.

I'm not sure that I would enjoy reading this. I know that everyone loves this book but I'm not really a fan of "fantasies". I think the love story and whole plot is cute. But then in a way I don't like how he is a vampire. But then again I wouldn't know inless i read it.

I also read this book. I enjoyed it and i thought it was a good story. It always kept you guessing and you never knew if he was going to give in and bite her. I didn't think i would like reading about vampires but i actually really liked this book.

I have heard a lot of people liked this book and the movie, but i do not feel the same way. I do not enjoy reading about vampires and fantasy things. I like how the style is very descriptive, because that helps the reader understand the setting of a story. It seems that you interacted with the book a lot and liked the book. Your passages really showed that Edward and Bella were in love.

I really enjoyed the books and I thought you did a very nice summary of Twilight. The passages you chose really explained the true love they had shared for eachother. I agree with everything you said in your summary too.

I already read this book and i think its an amazing book. I know i would read it over again if i needed something to read. I think the way she describes about the summary is just like the book. She chooses passages that fit the right description of the book.

Brielle Premont- I actually saw this movie and it was amazing. I can't wait for the others to come out. Even if i didn't already see the movie, the i'm i wouldn of read the book. I loved when Edward killed the tracker. I really liked your quotes also.
ReplyDeleteBefore the whole entire Twilight craze came about, I had already read all of the novels in the Twilight series. Yes, Meyer writes with passion and description, but hasn't anyone decided to look at what she writes? Don't get me wrong, I loved the Twilight series, they catch a persons intrest, but certain things that Meyer writes seem so shallow. When Edward talks about Bella it's more of an obsession than love. He's obsessed with her beauty and grace. However, he rarely ever talks about how funny Bella is, or intelligent, and relationships are more than good looks. And personally New Moon is my favorite book in the series, it's the one that made me feel the most.

I also heard good things about this book and even though I probably wouldn't read it it does seem appealing. My brother went to see the movie on a field trip and even though he didn't like the book he really enjoyed the movie... I did like reading your summary..
ReplyDeleteTwilight was a book that I read over the summer and I tend to disagree with he points brought up in the first entry. The main thing that I disagreed with was in the reaction. The person says that Twilight kept you interested the whole time. I found Twilight as a whole to be a very good book, but it was extremely boring at times. People compare Twilight to Harry Potter but harry Potter does not have the same boring moments that Twilight held within. While it used an amazing remedy of settings and characters, it just did not keep my interest to the point necessary to love the book. While Bella and Edward are falling in love, there are many points that you feel like Stephanie Meyer i taking it too far. Other than that, I thought the moral that this reaction referenced to was spot on in saying that you have to go for what you want, no matter how far you have to go.
ReplyDeleteEveryone says that they have loved this bookuld enjoy it that much. I dont think that I would enjoy it that much. The over all story seems pretty neat, but I can't read about vampires.
